You may have noticed that there is quite a bit of engineering work going on at the side of Platform 1 at Leeds station. Between Christmas and New Year that work will increase and it will have a major effect on services on the Airedale line.
Major works will take place at Leeds station over the Christmas period so between 27th & 29th December 2019 inclusive platforms 1 to 5 will be closed to all services. Leeds station will fully re-open on Monday 30th December 2019 with a normal timetable.
On the Airedale line, there won’t be any direct services between Leeds & Bradford Forster Square. Customers travelling between Leeds & Bradford are advised to travel to/from Bradford Interchange
If you are traveling to/from Kirkstall Forge & Apperley Bridge, then these will be serviced by trains between Skipton & Leeds, so check before you travel because times will be different to normal. Also trains on the Airedale & Wharfedale lines will be running a 30 minute frequency service, which means the normal extra peak time services won’t be running. And if that wasn’t enough disruption for you, Settle & Carlise & Bentham Line services will start and terminate at Skipton, with connections at Skipton to/from Leeds.
And finally, if you are traveling from Bradford, be aware that there are changes on the Calder Valley & Harrogate lines as well.
• Hull to Halifax service starts/terminates at Leeds
• Leeds to Halifax reduced from 4 trains per hour to 3 trains per hour
• Blackpool service to call additionally at Bramley to maintain 3 trains per hour
• No trains between Leeds & Horsforth
• 15 minute interval bus replacement for most of the day
• Two trains per hour between Horsforth & Harrogate extending to Knaresborough/York
Northern say ‘Platform 0, along with a simpler track layout on the approach to platforms 1 to 6, will provide additional capacity and reduce knock-on delays when the project is completed in 2021.’
