Pacers at Keighley

With Northerns essential travel and key worker timetable reducing services in the East Region by almost 50%, it is natural that less trains are used. Whilst their engineering team are using this time to enhance current fleet, their set of 144 units, which were due to retire in the May timetable change, have gone into storage at the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. Twenty three pacers sit at Keighley station, with 144 011 due to stay at the heritage railway permanently.

Northern have said ‘Not only is this a great help to us, but also supports the local railway. Due to the pandemic, the KWVR has had to postpone its summer season and many key events. With the Yorkshire Post reporting that the storage of pacers is saving the “heritage railway from collapse”, we are happy to be helping!’
